How to Join
Membership of both the Old Tauntonian Lodge in London, and the Taunton School Lodge in Taunton, is open to male OTs and members of staff. Freemasonry in general has a lower age limit of 21 but no upper one, so don't be put off because you're over 70 and never got round to it!
Admission is by ballot and every candidate requires a proposer and seconder. This is an important rule - but as OTs have much in common and the Lodges span several generations, it is usually the case that an applicant is already well known to a current member.
The United Grand Lodge of England is an all male institution (rather like TS used to be!) so it is not possible for ladies to join our Old School Lodges. However, there are women Freemasons and anyone interested in finding out more is invited to follow this link to: The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons
For the boys... it couldn't be easier. Just drop an email to John Ingram-Johnson or Chris Harding to receive complete details or to ask further questions. There will be no obligation to take your enquiry further and 'no salesman will call'!
For the vast majority of Masons both within the Old Tauntonian Lodges and throughout the world, membership is hugely rewarding and offers an invaluable bond of friendship, as well as a model for better living. It is in no way an elitist organisation and at every stage, members are reminded of their wider responsibilities.
